Pope Francis calls for lasting Armenia-Azerbaijan peace

PanARMENIAN.Net - On April 20, Pope Francis delivered his traditional Easter message, addressing believers and people of goodwill. He also spoke about the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.

“Let us pray that a final peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan may soon be signed and implemented,” he stated, as reported by Vatican News.

The Pope’s message focused on global peace, universal disarmament, and the release of prisoners.

“I wish for us to renew our hope that peace is possible. From the Holy Sepulchre, the site of Christ’s Resurrection, where this year Easter is celebrated on the same day by Catholics and Orthodox alike, may the light of peace shine across the Holy Land and the entire world,” he declared.

The Easter Mass was held without the Pope’s physical participation. Cardinal Angelo Comastri led the service at St. Peter’s Square.
