Pashinyan, Mirzoyan mourn Pope Francis's death

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed condolences following the death of Pope Francis, writing on X:

“I am deeply saddened by the death of Pope Francis. His Holiness displayed exceptional leadership in shaping a just and peaceful world, which will never be forgotten. My heartfelt condolences to all believers around the world for this great loss.”

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also issued a message of sympathy on X:

“I join people around the world in mourning the passing of Pope Francis. He touched many Armenian hearts with his recognition of Armenian heritage, his devotion to humanitarian causes, and the unforgettable memory of his 2016 visit to Armenia. May his legacy guide us toward a more peaceful world, as reflected in his final Easter message.”

The Pope was 88. He had been hospitalized in February at Rome's Gemelli Clinic with bronchitis, which later developed into bilateral pneumonia. Over five weeks in the hospital, he experienced four respiratory crises, two of which were life-threatening. After being discharged on March 23, he made only one public appearance but continued to perform limited duties, receiving visitors including King Charles III and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. Easter Mass was held without his participation; he appeared from the balcony while Cardinal Angelo Comastri led the Mass in St. Peter’s Square.
