IMF lowers Armenia’s 2025 growth forecast![]() April 23, 2025 - 13:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has downgraded its economic growth forecast for Armenia for 2025 and 2026, according to its April 2025 edition of the Global Economic Outlook. The IMF reported that Armenia’s GDP grew by 5.9% in 2024. However, it now projects a 4.5% growth rate for both 2025 and 2026. This marks a decrease from the IMF’s October 2024 forecast, which anticipated 4.9% growth for 2025, reports Sputnik Armenia. The IMF also released new inflation expectations. It now projects a 3.2% inflation rate for 2025 and 3.0% for 2026. According to March data, Armenia recorded a 12-month inflation rate of 3.3%. In terms of employment, the IMF registered a 13% unemployment rate for 2024. The forecast anticipates a rise in unemployment over the next two years, with rates projected to reach 13.5% in 2025 and 14% in 2026. ![]() ![]() Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
