Torchlight march held under Never Deny slogan

PanARMENIAN.Net - A traditional torchlight march took place in Yerevan on April 23 under the slogan Never Deny. The event began at Republic Square and concluded at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex. Organized annually since 1999 by the Armenian Youth Federation of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), the march commemorates the Armenian Genocide.

Before the march began, participants set fire to the national flags of Turkey and Azerbaijan in protest against their denialist policies.

Gegham Manukyan, a member of the ARF Supreme Body and a lawmaker from the Armenia parliamentary faction, stated before the march: “Turkey must recognize the Armenian Genocide as a historical fact, a crime against humanity, and a precedent that must not be repeated. As long as one denies genocide, they are complicit in it.”

Manukyan added that at a time when the state should be the clearest voice for genocide recognition, “we are witnessing irresponsible concessions and denial,” while the march itself reflects an unwavering demand for justice, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.

In addition to torches, march participants carried signs bearing the names of towns and villages in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The torchlight march is one of the symbols of the Armenian people’s pursuit of justice.
