Pashinyan, Husar focus on strengthening Armenia-EU relations![]() April 28, 2025 - 18:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - During an official visit, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Lauri Husar, President of Estonia’s Parliament (Riigikogu). Husar highlighted the significance of Pashinyan's visit and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would expand and strengthen. The two also discussed opportunities for the further development of Armenia-European Union relations. They exchanged views on a range of regional issues, with particular focus on the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The interlocutors underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary ties between Armenia and Estonia, including the need to deepen collaboration on international platforms. On March 26, Armenia’s National Assembly approved a bill in the second and final reading to initiate the process of joining the EU. The Armenian government had endorsed the proposal, submitted by the civil initiative Eurovote, on January 9. However, the EU has not yet officially invited Armenia for accession talks. Opposition parties have criticized the bill, calling it legally absurd. The Armenian president has signed the law. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk has warned that Armenia cannot “sit on two chairs” and will have to choose between the Eurasian Economic Union and the EU. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
