Hail-hit farmers to get up to 75% compensation![]() May 17, 2025 - 14:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 16, Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan visited the Argina community in Armavir Province to assess hailstorm damage and meet with affected farmers. During the visit, he introduced recent changes to the Intensive Horticulture Program. Khojoyan explained that under the updated program, expenses for installing anti-hail nets in intensive orchards and vineyards covering 0.5 to 3 hectares will be compensated by 50 to 75 percent. In communities classified as highly vulnerable to hail, compensation will remain at 75 percent. For other areas, the government has set the compensation rate at 50 percent. The deputy minister also discussed the agricultural insurance program and other forms of state support. Recent hailstorms have caused significant damage to farmers across the country. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
