Historian questions 2018 revolution narrative, calls for open discussion![]() June 4, 2025 - 16:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Hayk Demoyan, former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum, published a Facebook post questioning the true nature of Armenia’s 2018 political transition. He suggested it may have been the result of a pre-arranged agreement rather than a genuine popular, non-violent revolution. Demoyan proposed a face-to-face meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan under the framework of the initiative “Education is not a shame.” “If it turns out that what happened in 2018 wasn’t a velvet, non-violent, and popular revolution but merely a transfer of power based on a multi-party agreement to a pre-arranged group of agents, then will Pashinyan and his party members admit they are not a political party (not to be confused with religious celibacy) but rather a criminal group that served a predetermined war, depopulated Artsakh, inflicted immense material damage on the state, dismantled governance, marginalized Armenia in international relations, and turned the country into a hub for drug trafficking and money laundering? And that all ministers serving in Armenia from 2010–2018 were aware of this group’s formation and its true objectives, yet remain uniformly silent?” Demoyan emphasized that a discussion on recent history is vital: “Such a meeting would greatly benefit all citizens of Armenia as I intend to disclose many interesting facts. If a face-to-face debate is too intimidating, I am willing to compromise and hold the discussion with Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan instead, on the same agenda,” he wrote. Former MP Mihran Hakobyan also commented on Facebook, claiming that the organizers and beneficiaries of the March 1, 2008 events had already positioned Nikol Pashinyan as the future leader and had planned for him to carry out the post-2018 agenda. He implied that one day the reasons why the 2008 attempt failed while the 2018 one succeeded will become public. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
