Seven more arrested over November 10, 2020 unrest

PanARMENIAN.Net - Investigators have identified and detained seven additional suspects allegedly involved in the mass riots at government buildings on November 10, 2020.

As part of the ongoing criminal proceedings, a new group of individuals has been identified as participants in the mass riots that took place on November 10, 2020, at the National Assembly, the Government building, and other locations. These individuals are accused of taking part in the unrest, publicly calling for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order, and attempting to coerce authorities, according to the Investigative Committee.

The National Security Service of Armenia, in coordination with other agencies, carried out intelligence operations and established the identities of seven more people involved in the unrest.

Following a motion by the investigator, the supervising prosecutor authorized criminal prosecution against the suspects. All seven individuals have been arrested.

Prosecutors have submitted motions to the court to place these individuals under administrative supervision as a preventive measure.

On November 9, 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a joint statement on the cessation of hostilities in Artsakh. Pashinyan later wrote on Facebook that he had made an extremely difficult decision for himself and the nation. Following the announcement, large crowds gathered at Republic Square. A group stormed the main government building and the prime minister's office, while others entered the National Assembly building on Baghramyan Avenue. Then-Speaker of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan was assaulted and hospitalized.
