Detained Armenian teen had only legal items, court confirms![]() July 12, 2025 - 12:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - All items found in the possession of 18-year-old Andranik Chamichyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), were legal, as confirmed during a court session, according to Kristine Vardanyan, a lawmaker from the Hayastan parliamentary group. “They found nothing but legal items on Andranik Chamichyan. Even the judge acknowledged this during the detention hearing. Moreover, the prosecution was forced to drop the charge related to organizing explosions,” Vardanyan stated. Despite this, she said, Chamichyan was still sentenced to two months of pre-trial detention. “He was detained for being a Dashnak, an active member of the ARF youth wing, and for his love of airsoft,” she added. Andranik Chamichyan is accused of participating in the preparation of a terrorist act. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
