Yerevan, Moscow to discuss EEU legal compliance

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk have agreed to meet in the second half of August to discuss issues related to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) legislation, Grigoryan’s office reported, according to Factor.am .

The Armenian official’s office did not specify the exact date of the planned meeting.

About a month ago, in response to a written inquiry by the same media outlet, Grigoryan’s office confirmed receiving a letter from Overchuk.

According to the response, Overchuk’s letter referred to Armenia’s government decision No. 374-N of April 3, 2025, concerning the compliance of certain regulations with EEU legislation. That decision sets requirements for food products imported to Armenia from non-EEU countries and sold domestically. These goods must undergo a conformity assessment, obtain proper documentation, and be listed in a national registry as specified in the annex to the decision.

Prior to sending the letter, Overchuk had already publicly stated that Moscow was preparing a formal complaint, arguing that Yerevan’s steps toward closer ties with the European Union may contradict EEU regulations.
