Rubinyan says reciprocity key in transport talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ruben Rubinyan, wrote on Facebook that any unblocking of regional transport routes will be based on reciprocity: “If roads open for Azerbaijan, they will also open for Armenia.”

He stated that any agreement Armenia accepts will include unblocking grounded in sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction — meaning that all roads and infrastructure passing through Armenia will be under full Armenian sovereignty and jurisdiction, within its territorial integrity, and operate in accordance with Armenian law.

Rubinyan said reciprocity means that if Azerbaijan gains road access, Armenia will also gain equivalent access with mutual advantages. “This is the truth. There’s no need to pay attention to whining from inside that is instructed from outside. As for sincere concerns, they will surely be resolved once additional official information is available,” he added.

On August 8, U.S. President Donald Trump will host Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the White House. Separate meetings will be followed by a trilateral session, where Trump says Pashinyan and Aliyev will formally sign a peace agreement along with other documents.
