CIS customs bodies to set up joint expertise center

PanARMENIAN.Net - CIS customs authorities will have a unified expertise center following the signing of the Agreement on the Center for Expertise and Research for Customs Purposes of the CIS Member States. Armenia’s government approved the treaty, Sputnik Armenia reported.

The new center will serve as a platform for information sharing, analysis, and methodological cooperation in customs-related matters. It will conduct examinations and studies to ensure common standards across member states.

“The main purpose of the agreement is to develop uniform approaches in organizing the work of customs bodies in CIS countries when ordering and conducting expertise and research,” the government’s justification states.

The center is expected to improve efficiency of customs bodies, strengthen economic security, fight customs-related offenses, and develop the professional capacity of experts. It will function as an expert institution for an initial five-year term.
