Pashinyan urges justice system to act after ECHR March 1 ruling![]() September 18, 2025 - 18:20 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, commenting on the recent ruling of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the March 1 case, stated that the court simply confirmed what had already been obvious. "The March 1 case, in essence, has been uncovered, and the results of the investigation are now being examined by the courts," he said in a conversation with journalists, as reported by Aysor.am . The ECHR found that Armenian authorities had violated the right to life of those killed during the March 1, 2008 events. Each applicant representing a victim’s family is to receive €30,000 in non-pecuniary damages, and a total of €35,000 is to be awarded collectively for legal fees and expenses. Pashinyan emphasized that the ruling should serve as a fresh signal and incentive for Armenia’s law enforcement system to ensure fair trials and full accountability. "I think the ECHR ruling provides a legitimate opportunity to ask—how long can these trials continue with vague and ambiguous answers?" he said. He also noted his expectation that justice will be inevitable for all responsible for the events of March 1. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
