Armenian, Swiss FMs discuss humanitarian issues![]() September 25, 2025 - 18:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 24 in New York, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. The two officials underlined the importance of developing active political dialogue between Armenia and Switzerland and addressed humanitarian issues. They noted that this continuous dialogue has established a solid foundation for effective cooperation across various international platforms, including within the framework of Switzerland’s OSCE chairmanship. While discussing the regional situation, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the significance of the peace treaty initialed on August 8 in Washington and the process of unblocking communications based on fundamental principles. During a separate meeting with International Committee of the Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly, Mirzoyan raised the issue of Armenian detainees held in Baku. They discussed humanitarian concerns, particularly the release of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages in Azerbaijan, as well as challenges related to organizing visits in the absence of an ICRC office in the country. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
