Congratulating the diplomat on his new appointment, President characterized his visit as a proper occasion for discussing further development of Armenian-American relations. In his turn, Philip Gordon said it was his first foreign visit after assuming the new post. With regard to Armenian-Turkish relations, he noted that Ankara attaches great importance to further extension of Armenian-American ties, focusing particularly on regional development issues. Parties also focused on Armenian-Turkish ties normalization process, noting its historic importance and mutual advantage.
