Sargsyan says RPA will announce its election plans in due time

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan, responding to questions about the Republican Party’s (RPA) potential participation in the 2026 parliamentary elections, said he does not wish to draw conclusions yet.

“Let’s see. It depends on the situation. I don’t want to make conclusions now, but we will announce our participation in due time,” he told Aysor.am .

Sargsyan made the remark when asked whether the RPA would take part in the elections if the opposition’s initiative to impeach Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan fails.

Commenting on former president Robert Kocharyan’s claim that his team and businessman Samvel Karapetyan’s group could pass the parliamentary threshold, Sargsyan said he had not yet watched the press conference and therefore could not comment.

“To be honest, I haven’t had time to watch it, so I can’t express any opinion,” he noted.

Currently, opposition factions I Have Honor and Hayastan have jointly submitted signatures for a motion of no confidence in the prime minister, but lack the votes needed for its adoption.
