Prosecutor reviews Gyumri election bribery claim

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Prosecutor General's Office has forwarded a statement made by Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan to law enforcement for verification. The office confirmed this to Radar Armenia.

The statement in question concerns allegations of vote-buying by the Civil Contract Party during the Gyumri city council elections.

“Vardan Ghukasyan’s statement is under review. It has been sent to the General Department of Criminal Police for verification,” the Prosecutor's Office noted.

Earlier, during a conversation with journalists, Ghukasyan said: “You lost the Gyumri elections, and now you keep talking about Gyumri day and night. You speak of vote-buying—who doesn’t know it was you distributing bribes? Every journalist saw it; the entire city is talking about your vote-buying. There were cases where one person was given 60,000 drams in cash.”
