RA Public Council hails President's statement on possible amnesty

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President's public statement on possible amnesty was an unprecedented step, since he can exercise his constitutional right of independent decision making, said Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, deputy chairman of RA Public Council.

"The President's announcement was a topic of hot debates in the council and we decided to call on President Sargsyan to submit the issue to consideration of the National Assembly," he said.

Hovhannisyan also informed that according to a sociological survey, 84% of respondents spoke out for amnesty. 16% did not support the idea.
