Aram Sargsyan tells to probe foreign role in 1999 attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - Aram Sargsyan, leader of the Republic Party and brother of slain Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, stated that the October 27, 1999 terrorist attack on the Armenian parliament remains unresolved as long as the possible foreign political dimension is not investigated.

“It is not solved. I’ve said many times, until the foreign policy angle is examined and clarified, we cannot consider the case solved,” he told reporters, as quoted by Panorama.am .

Sargsyan said that even the most powerful external actors could not have acted without internal support, adding that such an operation would have been impossible without assistance from inside the country.

“In that context, I’ve been questioned three times. The last time was two months ago,” he said.

Tоday marks the 26th anniversary of the October 27, 1999, terrorist attack. That day, gunmen stormed the Armenian parliament, killing Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, Speaker Karen Demirchyan, and other officials. National Assembly Defense and Security Committee Chair Andranik Kocharyan also stated that the case must be fully solved.
