No emigration from Kirants, houses being built: governor![]() October 31, 2025 - 18:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Tavush Governor Hayk Ghalumyan stated during a conversation with reporters in parliament that there is no emigration from the border village of Kirants, and that new homes are being built. “At this moment, under a specific government program, 53 houses are being built in Kirants village through a 16-million-AMD project,” he said, according to Sputnik Armenia. Asked whether the number of students increased after a border wall was built near Kirants school to separate it from Azerbaijani territory, Ghalumyan gave no definitive answer. He said that 37 children currently attend Kirants School, and 5 others go to the preschool. When questioned by Aysor.am about how many families received compensation and the amounts involved, the governor declined to disclose the figures. “That’s confidential information, not subject to publication,” he stated. Following border delimitation with Azerbaijan, the newly built school in Kirants now lies just 50 meters from the frontier. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
