As reported by the Football Federation of Armenia, Barseghyan acknowledged that there are moments in life, and particularly in football, when making the right decision in an instant is difficult. “Unfortunately, in my last game, I let emotions take over and made a mistake. I deeply regret that I won’t be able to be on the field and help my teammates in the crucial upcoming matches. Our national team always fights to the end, and I am confident the guys will give it their all, with heart and strength. I am grateful to our head coach, my teammates, and our fans for their support, trust, and the warmth I feel even during this tough moment. It gives me great strength. Today, I especially value the unity of our team. We have a healthy and strong atmosphere where such challenges are easier to overcome. I am always with you, even from the sidelines,” said Barseghyan. Barseghyan has been suspended for three matches following a red card received in the 52nd minute of Armenia’s away World Cup qualifier against Ireland, where he headbutted an opponent during a confrontation. Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28. Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup. Gor Manvelyan has denied reports alleging that he has expressed a desire to one day play for the French national team.
