Trump says Putin surprised by Armenia-Azerbaijan deal

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin was surprised by Trump’s success in brokering peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Putin called me and said he couldn’t believe I pulled it off,” Trump stated during the U.S.-Saudi Arabia investment conference, according to RIA Novosti.

On August 8, a trilateral meeting was held at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The leaders signed a joint declaration summarizing the results of their talks.

During the same event, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed a peace and interstate relations agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the presence of their respective heads of state.
