Armenian, Syrian FMs agree to deepen dialogue![]() November 20, 2025 - 14:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaybani to discuss the development of Armenian-Syrian relations, with both sides emphasizing the need to expand cooperation and deepen political dialogue. Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to continue its support for humanitarian demining efforts in Syria. The ministers also exchanged views on recent regional developments. Both sides underscored the strong foundations for cooperation built on traditionally friendly relations between the Armenian and Syrian peoples. They identified economic ties, investment promotion, and humanitarian programs as key areas with strong development potential. Shaybani congratulated Mirzoyan on the August 8 Washington agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope for continued efforts to strengthen peace. The two officials also discussed steps to further stabilize and build on the peace process. Armenia’s Humanitarian Demining and Expertise Center deployed personnel to Syria in 2019, but they were evacuated following the outbreak of conflict that led to the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
