Yerevan to host WHO tobacco control summit in 2027![]() November 24, 2025 - 11:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The 12th session of the Conference of the Parties to the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (COP12) will be held in Yerevan in 2027. According to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this decision was made during the 11th Conference of the Parties and the 4th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products. Armenia was selected not only to host COP12, but also the 5th session of the Protocol meeting. The announcement highlights that this decision confirms the international community’s growing confidence in Armenia’s role in promoting public health and combating tobacco use and illicit tobacco trade. It further notes that Armenia is now entrusted with a vital responsibility in the fight against the tobacco "epidemic," helping to address key global public health and illicit trade challenges. Both COP12 and the Protocol’s fifth session will be held in Yerevan in 2027. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with Stephan Schütz, Executive Partner at Gerkan, Marg and Partners.
