No legal act yet on Armenian truck drivers' rights in Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan stated that as of now, no legal act has been adopted in Russia to regulate the work of Armenian truck drivers, according to Radar Armenia.

“This issue was raised in all Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, except Russia and Belarus. After several rounds of discussions, our Russian counterparts said they had launched a relevant legal process to establish a different migration regime for drivers,” Simonyan noted.

He emphasized that Russia’s Ministry of Transport has also submitted relevant proposals to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and that the process is ongoing. However, he stressed that no official legislation has yet been adopted or made public.

According to Simonyan, the Russian side has assured Armenian officials that work in this direction is continuing.

Earlier, Armenian truck drivers staged protests and blocked interstate roads, demanding changes to Russia’s decision limiting stays of citizens from visa-free countries to 90 days.
