MP Saghatelyan refuses to testify in Sacred Struggle case![]() December 10, 2025 - 12:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On December 9, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a member of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and a lawmaker from the Hayastan parliamentary faction, was summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee. It was later revealed that the summons was related to the Sacred Struggle case. In a Facebook livestream, Saghatelyan announced that he refused to give any testimony, stating the investigation is politically motivated. “I declined to give any testimony or explanation, declaring that this is a political case with no legal process taking place. It’s part of a political order, and for that reason, I won’t provide any statements,” he said. He also recalled that members of the ruling Civil Contract faction had questioned why the Prosecutor General hadn’t stripped him and Garnik Danielyan of parliamentary immunity, since they were also linked to the case. “I want to emphasize that we have no reason for concern. The authorities are trying to fabricate new cases or charges under a political directive. Being persecuted by this government is an honor. Collaborating with them or becoming their tool is shameful and disgraceful. They won’t distract us from our chosen path,” Saghatelyan stated. According to the Investigative Committee, participants and leaders of the Sacred Struggle movement had planned to carry out terrorist acts and seize power in Armenia. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
