Fate of churches in Northern Cyprus discussed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia, during his visit to Cyprus, met with Archbishop Georgios III, head of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, to discuss the condition of churches located in the Turkish-occupied part of the island, according to the Catholicosate.

The two emphasized the importance of clarifying the legal status of these churches and, where possible, initiating restoration work.

They also explored several theological topics, highlighting the significance of forming unified positions on various matters.

At the end of the meeting, Aram I presented Georgios III with a replica manuscript of Grigor Narekatsi’s “Book of Lamentations,” while the Archbishop gifted Aram I an icon.

Several Armenian churches are also located in the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus.
