Armenia files second extradition bid for Kostanyan![]() December 19, 2025 - 18:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has officially submitted a renewed request to Russia, seeking the extradition of former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan for prosecution by Armenian authorities. “The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia sent an extradition request to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation on December 17, seeking to transfer Gevorg Kostanyan to Armenia for criminal prosecution,” the Armenian Prosecutor’s Office announced, as reported by Aysor.am. This is Armenia’s second attempt to obtain Kostanyan’s extradition; the first request was rejected by Russia. On November 18, Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan told Parliament that, in addition to Kostanyan, Armenia intends to request the extradition of Vahagn Harutyunyan, former head of the investigative team in the March 1 case. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
