Local elections to be held in 46 communities in fall 2026

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the fall of 2026, local self-government elections will be held in 46 communities across Armenia, Chairman of the RA Central Election Commission Vahagn Hovakimyan said at a press conference.

“Next autumn, we will have major local self-government elections. According to the current plan, local elections will take place in 46 communities,” Hovakimyan said, Armenpress reports.

According to him, local elections in the communities of Fioletovo and Lermontovo in Lori Province, Ferek in Armavir Province, Arevut, Metsadzor, and Shamiram in Aragatsotn Province, as well as Arzni in Kotayk Province, will be held under the majoritarian system.

The CEC chairman also listed the provincial centers where elections will be conducted under the proportional system: Artashat, Ashtarak, Armavir, Gavar, Vanadzor, Hrazdan, Kapan, Yeghegnadzor, and Ijevan. Elections under the proportional system have also been held in the communities of Aparan, Ararat, Masis, Araks, Baghramyan, Metsamor, Martuni, Sevan, Vardenis, Tumanian, Spitak, Stepanavan, Pambak, Abovyan, Garni, Tsaghkadzor, Nairi, Nor Hachn, Akhuryan, Amasia, Ashotsk, Artik, Goris, Meghri, Tatev, Tegh, Vayk, Jermuk, Dilijan, and Noyemberyan.

The Central Election Commission has designated three possible dates for holding local elections: the last Sunday of September, the last Sunday of October, and the last Sunday of November.
