EU assistance to Armenia will backfire, Zakharova says![]() December 26, 2025 - 11:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that the European Union's pledges to support Armenia during elections will “end very badly.” “If EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas is being asked to help like she did in Moldova, it will end very badly. Unfortunately, that's what is happening there — people are being turned against each other,” Zakharova emphasized, according to Lenta.ru. She also suggested comparing the scale of aid Kallas can offer with the steps Russia has already taken to support Armenia. In Zakharova’s view, such a comparison will help Armenians decide whether it is worth listening to “a diplomat who incites Russophobes to provoke conflict.” Earlier, Kaja Kallas announced that the European Union intends to allocate 15 million euros to Armenia to counter Russian influence. According to her, the funds will be aimed at strengthening Armenia’s resilience and countering foreign interference ahead of parliamentary elections. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees. Friday night 8 trees were torched along the beautiful main entrance. The EU does not intend to conduct military exercises with Armenia, Lead Spokesperson for EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Peter Stano says. Partner news |
