Baku links peace to Armenia’s TRIPP, constitutional changes

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated during his year-end press conference that the conflict with Armenia has been resolved as a result of recent political developments.

He said that for the peace treaty to be signed, “Armenia must amend its Constitution and fully comply with all obligations under the TRIPP program”, APA reports.

“Recently, there have been reciprocal visits by civil society representatives from both countries. A meeting of the border delimitation commission was also held in Gabala,” he noted.

Bayramov added that new realities have emerged in the South Caucasus, citing 2025 as the first phase and noting that efforts will continue in 2026.

He also said that Azerbaijan would continue to advance the peace process through bilateral dialogue in 2026.

“The supply of grain from Azerbaijan to Armenia and the purchase of Azerbaijani oil products by the Armenian side are examples of positive confidence-building steps,” Bayramov said.

He also added that “the documentation of crimes committed by Armenia over the past 30 years continues.”

In Washington, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and U.S. leaders — Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Donald Trump — officially agreed to launch the Trump Route.

“This route will allow Azerbaijan to reach Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also creating an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop this corridor, potentially for 99 years, with the option to renew for another 99 years. We expect major infrastructure developments; U.S. companies are eager to invest, which will benefit all three countries economically,” Trump said.

On September 11, Pashinyan stated that Armenia did not lease land to the U.S. for 99 years, but instead granted construction rights.
