Minister: 12,000 electric car quota reserved for individuals![]() December 27, 2025 - 13:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, during a Facebook livestream, provided details on how Armenia’s 15,000 electric vehicle (EV) import quota for 2026 will be distributed. He stated that out of the 15,000 EV quota, 12,000 will be allocated to private individuals and legal entities that are not authorized dealers. “3,000 will be distributed to dealer entities, meaning those who officially represent a manufacturer in Armenia,” Papoyan said. He also noted that tax exemptions will apply only to vehicles manufactured in the last two years or in 2026. “To qualify for exemption from customs duties and clearance fees, the vehicle must be manufactured in 2024, 2025, or 2026,” he added. In 2025, Armenia was granted an 8,000-unit EV import quota under EAEU regulations, 90% of which was used up early in the year. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision. Kerobyan has said that for the first time in the history of Armenia, the volume of foreign direct investments amounted to about $1 billion. Partner news |
