Father Yesayi: Pashinyan’s appeal aims to divide people

PanARMENIAN.Net - Father Yesayi has denounced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent public appeal to citizens, labeling it an attempt at societal division.

“Omitting the Catholicos' name is uncanonical, and state interference in religious ceremonies is a crime,” he said, as reported by Auroranews.am .

In a Facebook video address, Prime Minister Pashinyan had urged supporters of reforms in the Armenian Apostolic Church to attend liturgies in all churches and “speak with priests, persuade them not to mention the name of the Catholicos during services.” He described this as the most crucial task for those backing the church reform agenda.

Earlier, Prime Minister Pashinyan announced the formation of a new body — the Coordinating Council — aimed at overseeing the organizational aspects of reform within the Armenian Church. He invited both clergy and believers to join the initiative.
