Trump: Peace Council will cooperate with UN on global conflicts

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. President Donald Trump, who is set to head the newly established Peace Council, stated during the charter signing ceremony in Davos that the Council's cooperation with the United Nations could create a unique global conflict-resolution format.

“The UN has tremendous potential. And I believe the combination of the Peace Council—represented by those gathered here—and the United Nations can become something truly unique for the world. Not just for the U.S., but for the whole world. We’re going to bring peace to the entire world, and God willing, that will be a great legacy for all of us,” Trump said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

He emphasized that the Council should include leaders with “real power and influence,” not “rookies in politics.” Trump also announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to join the Council.

“As soon as this Peace Council is fully formed, we’ll be able to do just about anything we want. And we’ll do it in cooperation with the UN,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who are among the founding members.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had expressed readiness to contribute $1 billion to support the Palestinian people through the Peace Council. According to available information, such a contribution is a required membership fee for permanent members of the new Council.
