Regular gasoline price drops in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced via Facebook that the price of regular gasoline in Armenia has dropped further.

“It’s now 420 drams. Let me remind you that one of the largest (perhaps the largest) gas station chains in Armenia has also purchased Azerbaijani gasoline, which is currently stored in their depots and will soon be sold at a lower price,” he wrote.

At the beginning of January, Papoyan had stated that a new batch of regular and premium gasoline, along with diesel fuel, was being imported from Azerbaijan to Armenia, potentially priced up to 80 drams cheaper.

On December 19, a train carrying 22 wagons of gasoline from Azerbaijan’s Socar company entered Armenia, followed by two additional shipments.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also addressed the topic of Azerbaijani fuel imports, noting: “From what I understand, purchasing this fuel is very beneficial for Armenian citizens. I’ve seen calls to boycott it, but also reports of long lines to buy it.”

When asked why Azerbaijan is selling cheap fuel to Armenia, Mirzoyan replied: “Because peace has been established and cooperation needs to develop. Their cargo should pass through our territory, and ours through theirs.”
