Georgian PM: Vance’s visit focused on Armenia, Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s planned visit to the South Caucasus in February has a specific focus related to the TRIPP project.

“Therefore, it is logical that its main addressees are Azerbaijan and Armenia. What else can I say?” Kobakhidze remarked, responding to a question about why Georgia is not part of the visit itinerary, as reported by Caucasus Chronicle.

When asked again why Georgia is not on the agenda, he responded: “That’s their decision.”

“Our information indicates that Vice President Vance’s visit to the South Caucasus is focused on the Zangezur issue. So naturally, the countries involved would be Azerbaijan and Armenia.

You are aware of how complicated our relations with the U.S. are. That context was created by the Biden administration. Let’s see how events unfold. We are waiting patiently. We have stated that we are ready to develop a strategic partnership with the United States,” Kobakhidze emphasized.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Vice President Vance would visit Armenia and Azerbaijan in February to promote Trump’s international peace and prosperity agenda. He also thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for upholding the peace agreement signed on August 8, 2025.
