EU approves €20 mln aid to Armenia from Peace Facility

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union has approved the allocation of €20 million to Armenia from the European Peace Facility. The announcement was made by Richard Jozwiak, editor at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s European service, via X.

“EU ambassadors have approved €20 million in military assistance to Armenia from the Peace Facility,” Jozwiak wrote. “Another small sign that Armenia is moving closer to the EU ahead of this year’s key elections.”

Earlier, it was reported that Hungary had withdrawn its veto on the decision to provide Armenia with €20 million in support from the European Peace Facility. This was also confirmed by Jozwiak.

In July 2024, Armenia had already received €10 million for the establishment of a modular field camp, which included a medical aid station and corresponding services and capabilities.

In March 2025, Armenia submitted a second request for additional support from the fund. However, during a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Hungary blocked the decision.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó confirmed the veto at the time, stating that while Hungary did not oppose supporting Armenia, it believed that equal support should also be extended to Azerbaijan.
