Grigoryan, Ritter praise EU mission’s role in Armenia![]() February 3, 2026 - 16:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On February 3, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan met with Markus Ritter, Head of the European Union’s Civilian Observation Mission in Armenia, on the occasion of the latter concluding his term. Grigoryan expressed gratitude to Ritter for his cooperation and dedicated service. He emphasized that the mission’s presence in Armenia has significantly contributed to maintaining security and stability in the region. Armen Grigoryan wished Ritter continued success and future achievements in his professional career. In turn, Markus Ritter thanked Armenian partners for the years of support and fruitful cooperation. The two also discussed various topics of mutual interest during the meeting. The EU observer mission arrived in Armenia on February 20, 2023. In January 2025, a decision was made to extend its mandate for another two years, until February 19, 2027. Baku has accused the EU mission in Armenia of “espionage” and “telescope diplomacy.” Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
