Armenian weightlifting champions named![]() February 16, 2026 - 13:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian Weightlifting Championship has concluded at the Sports Management Center, with a total of 110 athletes taking part. On the final day of competition, February 15, the national champions and medalists were determined in the 94 kg, 110 kg and +110 kg weight categories. In the men’s +110 kg division, Varazdat Lalayan claimed the title of Armenian champion with a combined total of 440 kg. The silver medal went to Simon Martirosyan with 405 kg, while Ashot Movsisyan completed the top three with 377 kg. In the 110 kg weight class, Garik Karapetyan became national champion with a total of 380 kg. In the 94 kg category, Ara Aghanyan secured the title with a combined result of 370 kg, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported. Earlier, national titles were also claimed by Garnik Cholakyan in the 60 kg category (total: 272 kg), Zhora Grigoryan in the 65 kg category (254 kg total), Gor Sahakyan in the 71 kg division (330 kg total), Martin Poghosyan in the 79 kg category (337 kg total) and Rafik Harutyunyan in the 88 kg division (350 kg total). Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28. Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup. Gor Manvelyan has denied reports alleging that he has expressed a desire to one day play for the French national team.
