Within the framework of the project, 10 stations along a 194.1-kilometer main line are to be modernized, and 814 engineering structures will be built, including 29 bridges, 4 tunnels and 12 overpasses, Caliber.az reports. The first phase of design and construction work, launched at the end of last year, covered Salammalik, Ordubad, Azna and Julfa. “The railway line, connected to the Zangezur corridor, will ensure direct land communication between the main territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, as well as open access to the markets of Turkey, Armenia and European countries. The project is considered an important component of the Middle Corridor and part of a new regional transport system that will be integrated into the TRIPP route in the Ordubad district near the Armenian border,” the statement said.
