EU enlargement commissioner to visit Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will visit Yerevan on March 19–20, the EU Delegation to Armenia has announced.

Relations between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia continue to deepen, entering a decisive phase of partnership and reaffirming a strong and mutual commitment to advance bilateral cooperation around key strategic priorities.

Ahead of Kos’s visit and the first EU–Armenia summit, a working visit by senior European Commission officials took place in Yerevan on February 18. The visit aimed to assess progress in implementing the new strategic agenda of the EU–Armenia partnership.

The strategic agenda is based on the EU–Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which serves as the foundation for long-term cooperation. Discussions focused on regional connectivity in transport, energy and digital sectors.

Priority attention was given to supporting the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative and ensuring its effective implementation in alignment with the “Interregional Connectivity Agenda.”

Possible options for EU support were outlined to implement jointly identified priority projects, with particular emphasis on strengthening economic resilience and creating new opportunities for trade and mobility.

With the government, the final draft of the reform and investment package for Armenia under the EU’s Resilience and Growth Plan was confirmed, including the second tranche worth €202.5 million. This tranche had earlier been announced by Commissioner Marta Kos during her visit to Armenia in September 2025.

At the same time, the European Union reaffirmed its firm commitment to supporting democratic resilience, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the integrity of upcoming electoral processes.
