Papoyan proposes loans for tax-paying taxi drivers![]() February 19, 2026 - 18:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan has initiated discussions on the possibility of providing loans to taxi drivers who pay taxes and operate transparently. Papoyan announced on his Facebook page that he has launched discussions with the Central Bank, the Union of Banks and the company Yandex regarding lending opportunities for taxi drivers who pay taxes and conduct transparent activities. He noted that other taxi platforms may also join the discussion. “If there are taxi drivers who do not have classified loans, pay taxes from their activities and have been unable to receive loans corresponding to their transparent incomes, I ask you to contact the company servicing you, for example Yandex. The latter will then forward the data to us so that we can discuss each case individually with the banks,” he wrote. In recent days, drivers of the Yandex taxi service have held protest actions, raising the issue of their unregistered status. It has been noted that they pay state duties and earn more than 200,000 drams per month, yet are not considered registered employees. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision. Kerobyan has said that for the first time in the history of Armenia, the volume of foreign direct investments amounted to about $1 billion. Partner news |
