PanARMENIAN.Net - In the first leg of the UEFA Conference League playoff round, Armenian champions Noah defeated Dutch side AZ Alkmaar 1-0 in Yerevan.

The only goal of the match was scored by Armenia national team defender Hovhannes Hambardzumyan.

The return leg will take place on February 26 in the Netherlands. The winner of the Noah–AZ Alkmaar tie will face either AEK Athens of Greece or Sparta Prague of the Czech Republic in the round of 16.

Ahead of the match, Noah head coach Sandro Perković had promised that the team would do everything to make Armenian fans happy.

Noah are the first Armenian club to compete in the playoffs of a European competition.
