Ex-MP urges impeachment of PM Pashinyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former National Assembly deputy Samvel Farmanyan has called on the opposition to remove Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from office through impeachment.

According to him, it is unclear what the situation in the country will be by June and what may remain of the state by then.

“As soon as possible — even within minutes — Nikol must be removed from the post of prime minister. In this critical situation, he is a greater threat to Armenia’s existence and the security of the Armenian people than the terrible tsunami approaching us.

Azerbaijan and Turkey seem to be getting involved in actions against Iran, with all the possible scenarios that may follow,” he wrote.

Farmanyan urged opposition forces to quickly unite and nominate a single candidate for prime minister acceptable to all sides.

“Opposition, come together, quickly nominate a unified candidate for prime minister and remove Nikol through impeachment in parliament. What elections? What June? What will remain by June? Armenia is not ownerless — the gates are open from the inside.

Unite quickly, form a capable government of national solidarity and give Armenia at least a chance to survive.

Shame on you if even in such a critical situation you cannot distinguish the essential from the unimportant and become more ‘Nikol’ than Nikol himself,” he wrote.

Earlier, the Republican Party of Armenia announced the launch of political dialogue and consultations, expressing concern over recent developments in the country.

The party called on opposition forces, civil society and citizens to “rise above narrow party interests and unite around the constitutional instrument of impeachment.”
