Lawyer Ruben Hakobyan detained in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has detained lawyer Ruben Hakobyan, Sputnik Armenia reports.

It has not yet been confirmed within which case the detention was carried out.

The press service of the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia stated that the detention of Ruben Hakobyan, who is a member of the chamber’s council, is under the organization’s close attention.

The chamber said it is in constant contact with Hakobyan’s defense team.

“The Chamber is in direct contact with Ruben Hakobyan’s defense team. The scope of actions aimed at protecting the lawyer and further steps are being discussed.

P.S. According to Article 7, Part 2, Clause 1 of the Law on Advocacy, the tasks of the Chamber of Advocates include protecting the rights and legitimate interests of its members in relations with state and local self-government bodies and organizations, as well as in court,” the statement said.

Hakobyan is the lawyer of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan and Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan.
