Russia sends new wheat batch to Armenia through Azerbaijan![]() March 9, 2026 - 12:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A new shipment of grain from Russia will reach Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan. Seven railcars carrying wheat were dispatched to Armenia on March 8, APA reported. In November 2025, Russian wheat was transported to Armenia via Azerbaijan for the first time after a 35-year pause. Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk described it as symbolic that the first cargo delivered along that route was Russian wheat — a key symbol of life and creation. A shipment of Kazakh wheat has also reached Armenia using the same route. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
