Аrmenia, EU discuss defense cooperation prospects![]() March 13, 2026 - 15:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met on March 13 in Brussels with Andrius Kubilius, the European Union Commissioner for Defence and Space, to discuss prospects for cooperation in the defense sector. During the meeting, the sides reviewed possible areas and future development of Armenia–EU defense cooperation. They also addressed a number of issues related to regional and international security. Earlier, on March 12, Papikyan met with Belgium’s Minister of Defense and Foreign Trade Theo Francken, where they discussed issues related to Armenia–Belgium defense cooperation. During that meeting, the sides highlighted the significant potential for developing cooperation in areas such as military education, professional training, military medicine, peacekeeping and humanitarian demining, agreeing to continue efforts aimed at expanding bilateral interaction. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
