Editor Armine Ohanyan summoned over 2024 article![]() March 18, 2026 - 10:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian newspaper Hraparak editor-in-chief Armine Ohanyan has been summoned to the Investigative Committee, Hraparak.am reported. The reason is an editorial written in 2024, which, according to the Investigative Committee, contains calls for a change of power. “On the eve of elections, the Civil Contract regime has decided to silence the free press. Months ago, reports circulated that several editors of independent media outlets would become targets of law enforcement ahead of the elections, and one of them would be the editor of ‘Hraparak’, who consistently criticizes the current authorities. The reason for summoning and questioning Armine Ohanyan at the Investigative Committee is an editorial written in December 2024, which, according to the Investigative Committee, contains public calls for a violent overthrow of power. Article 422 of the Criminal Code has become a lifeline for the authorities and is now the main tool for political persecution. Charges against Samvel Karapetyan and Mikael Ajapahyan were also brought under this article. How the Investigative Committee will proceed in the case of Armine Ohanyan will become clear in the coming days. For now, Ohanyan has been summoned as a witness for questioning and has also signed a document pledging not to disclose details of the preliminary investigation,” the publication said. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
