Amnesty not planned, focus on early release: minister

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia does not plan to introduce an amnesty, with the emphasis instead placed on early conditional release, Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan said during a parliamentary discussion on budget execution.

“We will place greater emphasis on individualized approaches to ensure that a person returning to society has a higher potential for reintegration and a smoother path to resocialization. That is why we are improving the institution of conditional early release,” she said, according to Aysor.am .

According to the minister, 170 individuals were granted conditional early release in 2025, which is 32 more than in 2024.

“This year, we already have 40 individuals who have been released. Compared to the same period last year, this is more than 15 additional people,” she added.
