Moscow denies talks on Armenia railway deal

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin stated that Moscow is not negotiating the transfer of Armenia’s railway management concession to Kazakhstan. He made the remarks in comments reported by Kommersant.

“I can say that, first, we do not intend to transfer any concession to anyone. Second, our Armenian partners have not discussed these issues with us at the official level,” the minister said.

He also stressed that there are no discussions on this matter with Kazakhstan either.

In December 2025, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan appealed to Russian counterparts to quickly restore railway sections leading to the borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan, which are needed for the Armenia–U.S. Trump route transport project.

On March 26, Pashinyan said: “We would not object if it turns out there is mutual understanding between us and Russia that a Kazakh company is acceptable for both sides.”

At the same time, he emphasized that such ideas are circulating, but he cannot say that discussions are underway.
